Since May 2024, I have initiated a real-time, participatory art experiment on the platform TikTok: through live streaming, I randomly select approximately 8–10 strangers each day and create their portraits. Gender, age, and appearance are determined by the contingencies of the platform and the immediate involvement of the audience. By August 2025, this practice has resulted in a total of 1,200+ portraits.
The audience’s participation disrupts the traditional one-directional relationship between artist and subject, generating new meanings within the cycle of “being seen – being drawn – being shared.” These portraits collectively form a living archive of 1,200 moments, a tapestry of collective memory shaped by randomness, interaction, and digital presence.
